Arbitrary: Installation 1

Hey everyone!

So here's the deal. I'm writing this post very, very early because I have a problem. Once school starts, I won't have any time to write posts (I'm taking too many AP classes for my own good, not to mention robotics and work), but I don't want to abandon my blog. This blog is one of those unique things in my life that I've stuck with, and I'm planning to keep it that way. So, I have to compromise by writing many posts in advance and having them auto-post later on.

These auto-posted series are completely arbitrary, hence the title. Today, I feel like sharing pictures of San Francisco. Check them out:

Perfect Summer Picnic

Hey everyone!

I owe all of you an apology- I haven't blogged in forever! I've been pretty busy with college applications and life in general, and I didn't have any time to blog the last 2 weeks. Have no fear, though, I have a new post for you today!

Yesterday, my best friends and I went on a picnic by the lake near our houses. Although we'd initially planned a lunch picnic, we had to settle for a dinner because it was hard to find a time where everyone was free.

For the picnic, we each brought food (maybe a little too much food?). We ended up having sandwiches, sushi (vegetarian and handmade but so good!), cookies, blueberries, oranges, brownies, and punch. We ended up with a bunch of leftovers because one of my friends just got braces on and she couldn't eat anything. I took a brownie home, though, and it was SO good!

Here are some pictures. My friend (who has an awesome VSCO by the way) took pictures of the lake at sunset. I'll definitely add those onto this post when she sends them to me!

Wedding Photography Favorites

Hey everyone!

I can't even begin to explain to you how excited I was to post this today. I spent a long time yesterday just formatting this blog and I couldn't be happier with the results! Although it took forever, it's in a much better place than it was previously and it just feels so much better to post on a medium that is visually appealing.

As for today's blog topic... I was brainstorming last night and several things came to mind. I debated on doing a "Why medicine?" post, but I figured that it might alienate people that come to my blog for pretty pictures and such. So, I decided that I would focus today's blog around photography (specifically wedding photography).

I might be ages away from even thinking about being married, but that doesn't stop me looking up wedding pictures. Aren't they just beautiful?

I found this picture on Flickr creative commons, and I immediately fell in love! If you couldn't figure it out, this is a picture is taken right before an Indian wedding; the bride and groom sit on the decorated chairs while the ceremony is going on. To me, this picture symbolizes that moment before marriage- the last hurrah, if you will. That's gotta be one of the most important moments in these people's lives!

As cheesy as it is, I love the Bollywood wedding ideal. Is it way more extravagant than normal people weddings? Absolutely! In fact, one of my most favorite movies, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, has a wedding that is so destination and expensive that there's no way that anyone other than the bride and groom would sit through it! I wish I could show you a still from the movie, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything that wasn't copyrighted :(.

But, have no fear! I did a little research and found out that the filming of the wedding portion of the movie took place in Udaipur.

How gorgeous, right? If I were to have a destination wedding it would have to be in a place somewhat like this. If you're interested, the palace shown in the picture is called the City Palace, and you can read more about it here.

I may be biased, but I find Indian destination weddings the best. There's no other culture that I know of that has such elaborate weddings and so many different rituals. Going to an Indian wedding is such a culturally inspiring event and if any of you guys ever get the chance to attend one, go! You'll definitely love it.

I also wanted to throw in a little bit about videographers. My friend and I love watching Indian wedding videos (shout out to S!) and our favorite videographer is a a company named SalShan. His vimeo can be found here and I highly recommend that any of you interested in wedding filmography look him up. His videos are absolutely gorgeous and I love his camera work.
